I remember vividly where I was and what I was doing on the morning of 9/11/2001. I was on the top floor of the company’s office. I sat in the back corner and I was a short way into my career as a knowledge engineer/web developer for my company.
A co-worker came in and said, “a plane just hit the World Trade Center tower”.
My first thought was, “what a dumbass.” I was under the impression it was some tiny single-engine plane, something like a Cessna, Beechcraft or Mooney. In my initial thoughts, it was someone that got too close as a tour of the city or something.
I got up and casually walked over to my boss’s office and he had the news on. I walked in and saw the TV and thought that was a lot of smoke for a small plane. Then we all watched in horror as the second plane hit.
It was an odd thing, how the brain imprints events. Like a movie forever in your brain. 17 years later, down the long tunnel of time and I remember everything as if it happened just yesterday.
